Jail Time

Jail Time

by Rory D.

(Clinton)

There I was in jail for treason,

and who would have thought the war would end like this.
I Jefferson Davis demur this act of treason,
while I was simply ruling my country,
I thought I was a hero,
but now just A bum,
Here I thought it was as easy as pie,
Now I lay here and cry,
How hard could I have tried.
As I rot in this jail cell,
like a moldy piece of bread,
I shall never forget those glorious days,
of when I was a threat.
My wife Varina Davis must be so worried,
crying herself to sleep,
and writing letters to get me out of this old rotten jail cell.
I knew after we lost the battle of Gettysburg
That the war was turning but how?
I have 100x the experience that Abraham Lincoln has.
I graduated from West Point in the class of 1828
and what has Lincoln done?

Jefferson Davis was a great ruler,
for he should have changed his opinion
Davis dissevered the jail time
Slavery is not right
