Gettysburg Mourns

Gettysburg Mourns
Once the drum rolls echoed here
And bugles sharp call cut the air
The devil had his way again
When good men fought good men
Pastures green once sewed with seed
Now the stage for evil deeds
Canon shot has scarred the land
Another touch of the devils hand
Some say ghosts still walk the fields
Of Gettysburg and always will
Like sentries from another time
Walking still their picket lines
The soldier says don’t weep for me
My fears and pain are now at peace
The drums and bugles call no more
Long ago I walked through heavens door
But Gettysburg will not forget
When the young men came in war
And deep beneath her soil
Gettysburg still mourns
And deep beneath her soil
Gettysburg still mourns
