Come Home Dad

Come Home Dad

by Meghan G

It’s been a year,

And I am still full with fear,
Since I have seen him,
Only praying for God’s protection life and limb,

Helping ma in the field, over the hills, long endless nights
Trying to keep my sibling’s hopeful,
And keeping them from frost bite,

It’s hard to raise money and keep the family going strong,
The day light is shrinking and nights can feel so long,

It’s terrifying not knowing, that he might be dead,
And only knowing by what the village people said,

1. I heard now the war might be over, because we have just won, the Battle of Bull Run,
And every morning I hope that he will be home along with the sun,

2. There were many spies,
Who always came from when you looked at the sky

There were many women very strong,
And they fought very long,

3. The confederates, Robert E Lee, just surrendered, to Ulysses Grant,

With the array of solders nothing will go wrong,
Unless the confederates get strong

I know we will win, and with hope that can bring,
And my dad will come home without one sting.
