Local Transportation from Gettysburg PA

The area transportation from Gettysburg PA is better than most other East Coast small towns. Most small towns have absolutely nothing! Gettysburg has a convenient Town Trolley that runs a circuit through the heart of downtown attractions.

Trolley and Bus
The trolley goes from the National Park Service Visitor Center south of town to the Gettysburg Hotel in the downtown square and stops at 5 locations. It visits each main stop twice during the hour. It's not as convenient as the bus systems in major cities, but if you hate to drive and you didn't choose a hotel near the bus tour center or one with a shuttle to the tour, you can take the trolley there. Then sit back and enjoy the narrated bus tour. Fare is $1.25 (seniors 75 cents) or 20 rides for $5, but if you purchase a special Battlefield Bus Tours package plan, you can ride for free.

Car
If you want to drive the battlefields yourself and need a car, there is an Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Contact them about transportation from Gettysburg PA and they'll deliver a car to you.

Bicycle and Other Methods
You can also rent bicycles in Gettysburg, if you'd rather travel that way. I heard that there's a rental place north of town near the Eternal Light Peace Memorial, but I've never been there. I've only traveled by bus and car so far, but taking a tour of the battlefield on horse is on my wish list!
